A Fun Week

Weekly Happenings: Paul took this past Monday off, so we decided to go to the zoo and also the Japanese Tea Gardens. I’m glad we had that fun day, because it made it easier to take the rest of the week easy. 🙂 On Thursday, we had some friends over for dinner, who have a little boy about a year younger than Joseph. Those two played together so well! I love that we’re making good friends here!

The Weekly Weather: Rinse and repeat from last week (minus the rain)…hot, hot, hot!

What Paul’s Been Up To: Besides work, which keeps him pretty busy, he’s been working with his scout, as well as continuing to improve our backyard (with putting borders around the trees in the backyard).

What Sarah’s Been Up To: Piano students, getting the visiting teaching report done, and keeping Joseph entertained was the order of the week. 😉

What Joseph’s Been Up To: Trying to fix owies (I hurt my toe and he told me that putting his Mickey Mouse slippers on my feet would make me feel better. After I showed him they wouldn’t fit, he settled for giving me a hug.) and coming up with cute things to say and do. One thing he told me was that he loved our Roku Box. It may or may not be because of the fact that he realizes that the Roku Box provides him with some of his favorite shows on demand. 😉 Another thing he did was to run around the house telling me that he was Super Joseph and that he was there to rescue me. 🙂

The Year is Just Flying By!

Weekly Happenings: It seems crazy that the year is already over halfway over. We had a relatively quiet week at home. There was one day that I took Joseph to one of the free kids’ movies that the theater near us offers. Joseph thought it was interesting at first (the big screen, etc.), but lost interest after about 30 minutes. Luckily, since it was free (with the exception of $3.00 spent on popcorn and a drink), I didn’t feel bad about leaving. We also let him swim in the pool one day this week, and then we had some fun with the neighbors on Friday (4th of July). After we had the missionaries over to have dinner with us, we went across the street to shoot off fireworks with the neighbors across the street (who also happen to be a family in our ward). We let Joseph stay up past his bedtime so that he could see some of them after it got dark. We would have stayed out later, but it started to rain. 🙂 The “neighborhood shows” as I like to call them, lasted well past midnight, but luckily Joseph slept through them.

The Weekly Weather: Mostly sunny and warm with a few random thunderstorms here and there. 🙂

What Paul’s Been Up To: Working hard at work and continuing to work hard to keep our house and yards looking nice. Yesterday he bought more fence boards so that he can frame the trees in the backyard like he did the one in the front. 🙂 He also got gardening tape to tie the tomatoes to their supports a bit better.

What Sarah’s Been Up To: Other than piano teaching, keeping Joseph happy, healthy, and entertained and keeping the house (relatively) clean, I’ve been pretty busy with the ward choir and doing my visiting teaching coordination stuff. The end of the month is always busy in that aspect.

What Joseph’s Been Up To: His imaginative play has been through the roof. He will entertain himself for a good hour with his cars, or books, etc. It amazes me. I admit I may have taken a nap during one of the long stretches where he entertained himself. He’s also continually making new friends. He’s such a social little guy. Finally, he has figured out that the show, “Bob, the Builder” is pretty cool. 🙂

Germ-Free at Last!

Weekly Happenings: It seems like Joseph is over his strep! It feels so good to have him better. 🙂 We ended up not doing too much this week because the weather was a bit unpredictable, but Joseph had fun having “play dates” when I went to do my visiting teaching and when piano students would have younger siblings come along.

The Weekly Weather: As mentioned before, it was rather unpredictable. It would pour during the morning and then clear up in the afternoon. Kind of crazy, but I’m slowly getting used to crazy. 🙂

What Paul’s Been Up To: Working hard as usual…he did get to have a Daddy and Son Day on Saturday. I had two baby showers to go to, so Paul and Joseph had fun going to the zoo and then later to Lowe’s. When I got home from the second shower, I noticed that the tree in our front yard had a border around it, made from a fence board. It looks really good!

What Sarah’s Been Up To: Teaching piano (though not as much…several of my students are taking a break for summer), entertaining the wee one, and filling in where needed at church. Today we started singing the opening hymn and I realized nobody was leading the music. Nobody else seemed to be heading up, so I took the initiative to do so. I also helped out in Primary and Relief Society as well. I feel so blessed to have been given musical talents. 🙂 Oh, a fun thing that happened was that I won some prints from my friend’s graphic design site. She made some patriotic prints and announced that she was doing a give away (all one had to do to enter was leave a comment on her site saying what they loved best about Independence Day). She put all the names in a hat and then pulled out mine! I’m really loving them. 🙂

What Joseph’s Been Up To: The highlight of Joseph’s week was definitely the zoo, since he got to see animals, ride the train, and got a cheeseburger for lunch, but a close second was the acquisition of some “construction gear”. One of his little friends was having a birthday party on Saturday, but it was at the same time as one of the baby showers that I needed to go to. The little guy’s mom had posted on Facebook that she needed to borrow a pop-up canopy for the party, so I offered her ours. When she returned it after the party, she left a goody-bag for Joseph. It had a plastic play hard-hat, a Home Depot apron, a sand shovel, a little yellow bulldozer, and a box of treats. When he got up this morning and saw the stuff, he was too excited for anything else. He’s been wearing the apron pretty much all day (we convinced him to leave it home during church). When I had to get him dressed for church, he told me that he couldn’t get dressed because he was too busy working. Silly boy!
