Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

Weekly Happenings: This past week was full of getting back into our routines and me picking up on some things that I’ve kind of left by the wayside.

The Weekly Weather: It’s been another week full of a mix of rain, gloomy days, and some sun mixed in between.

What Paul’s Been Up To: He has been busy at work (he even went in today to do some overhauling of some of the computers since it’s easier to do stuff like that when the students are not there). I love that even though he’s super busy at work, he still makes time for hanging out with Joseph and for helping me with things. I am really blessed in that department.

What Sarah’s Been Up To: When I brought Abigail home, I knew it would change up the way I had been doing things, but I was not prepared for how overwhelmed I would feel at times. I was really struggling with how to balance my time and it was hard to accept help because I felt like I should be able to handle it all, just as I did before she was born. It has taken me a solid three years to figure out how to lay out a routine that doesn’t leave me exhausted by the end of the day (well, there are still days, but it’s not every day). Ticking away at my housework a tiny bit every day as opposed to trying to do it in one or two days was what I experimented with this week and the results are pleasing. Next week I’m going to try to work in my morning workouts again. I think the fact that Abigail is older is a huge help. I also am trying to go to more girls’ nights and outings when they come up. I find that if I do that, I feel a little less trapped in toddler-land. One wonderful thing that I got to do this morning was to go to the temple. It was so quiet and peaceful. I love that it affords me the opportunity to really be in tune with my Heavenly Father.

What Joseph’s Been Up To: He’s been busy at school. He enjoys attending the Gifted and Talented program and loves getting a chance to go to the computer lab a couple of times a week.

What Abigail’s Been Up To: She’s been busy, busy, busy. One funny thing she did was to tell me she was a snake and then proceeded to hiss at me. The other day she fell down, bonked her head, and then told me (through her tears) that she was sick and needed to go the doctor’s. She’s always keeping me on my toes!

This Week in Pictures:

One thing I worked on this week was organizing my pantry. I didn’t really move anything around. I mainly just cleaned stuff up and got rid of extra boxes/bags/etc.
Here’s the after!
Chef Abigail. This day’s menu included lemon, orange, and tomato soup.
She was really into dressing up this week.
The last time I was in Waco, I had a lemon and lavender cupcake from the Silo Bakery and absolutely loved the flavor profile. So, when Paul got me the Magnolia Table cookbook for Christmas and I saw the recipe for lemon and lavender icebox cookies, I just had to try it out. They are more of a shortbread-type cookie and are so good!
